Custom Homes
Osprey Homes also builds custom homes. In fact, that is what most of our work was for the first twenty years in the business. We still build a few custom homes as land development timing and construction schedules permits.
Our business plan is to have a steady flow of work for our partners, the suppliers that make the high quality materials used in our homes and the sub-contractors that bring their craftsmanship to the job. By creating this partnership they know that their schedule will be consistent and the amount of work that they have will be steady. It benefits our homeowners in many ways because our partners know that whether on a “production” home or a custom home they have to keep their skills sharp and always work with a discriminating eye for detail. The custom home buyer can almost always realize some added savings because our partners give us volume pricing since we do build so many homes.

We at Osprey Homes believe it is a difficult but obtainable goal. We strive to select the materials that will last longer, require less maintenance and yet only cost a bit more up front. We work with all of our suppliers and subcontractors to benefit from special offers, characteristics of the land, new products and ideas. Our subcontractors are more like partners than vendors and they understand that it is only through a satisfied homeowner that we all can keep going forward and getting better. They strive to deliver a quality product on time and within the budget. They work together to work out problems and also point out areas where improvements can be made or costs can be saved.
The single most important aspect of "Affordable Quality" is the design of the home. Kaare Papenfuse, one of the owners of Osprey Homes, has over 20 years being a design builder of custom homes. He designs all of our homes and he does it from the inside out. His decades of hands-on experience give him the critical ability to fit all of the components together to maximize the usable space and minimize waste. This separates his designs from all other builders.
Affordable Quality, simply put, means outstanding value. We pay that little bit of extra attention towards buying something that lasts. We look at the life cost of each product and what will be required to maintain it. This is the way that building should be done, but so often isn't, in our world today.
